Zip Dee Awning Install

One of the biggest upgrades to our 1970’s vintage trailer was our Zip Dee Awning. This really helped finish the trailer renovation.

About Zip Dee Outdoors

Zip Dee has been around for a very long time. They have been building awning for Airstream since the beginning. They are still used on every Airstream. I love that they are built 100% here in the USA. The quality is outstanding and it will hold up for a very long time. They have lots of different options for Fabric. They use Sunbrella fabric which gives you all kinds of patterns and colors to choose from. We chose the Yellow 6 Bar fabric. Check out their website HERE.

Our Install

The install process only took us about 2-3 hours. Since the roof line isn’t very tall, we had to give as much room as possible. For our trailer we had to take off the top trim piece to raise the awning up to clear the top door. It ended up working out good, we just had to use a lot more silicone to make sure there were no leaks. We also had to add arms on the side to lift the angle of the awning. The door was not able to open without them. But in the end we liked them more because it moved the arms out of the way and less people would bonk their heads on the awning arms.
